As we enter the last quarter of the year, many activities in the construction industry go into fast-pace mode. Outside crews hurry to close up buildings before the winter weather arrives. Interior finish crews are equally as busy, working around holiday schedules to meet deadlines. When looking at a project, these are things which can be easily seen, but there many more activities that go on in the background. Owners and managers are developing budgets for the upcoming year. Sales groups are working to secure contracts for the next quarter and beyond. New projects are being worked on that are still in the design and development stages.

 

One often forgotten activity is education. Education comes in many forms, including hands-on learning, on-line courses, seminars, presentations, and conventions. Some education is mandatory, such as the continuing education credits required for architects. Other education is for personal and professional growth.

 

In the casework industry, Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) is the leading education provider to architects as well as casework manufacturers. AWI, through its Speakers Bureau, is the longest standing provider of education credits to American Institute of Architects (AIA) members. The Speakers Bureau is made up of volunteers who have met certain requirements and represent AWI during the education portion of any presentation. 

 

CCI Group has been a member of AWI for many years. One CCI team member is currently on the AWI State Board of Directors and is also a member of the National Speakers Bureau. In the past, CCI has been active in AWI on the national level as well, with several team members having served on the Insurance Committee and the Standards Committee.

 

Although CCI Group has team members with years of experience, we still value the benefit of continuing education. Weekly training sessions are provided for plant employees. Monthly “hip pocket” training is given on various subjects for office employees including support staff, project managers, engineers, and estimators. We also utilize education opportunities provided by webinars and conventions.

 

Through vision and education CCI Group continues to be on the forefront of innovation in design and manufacturing.
