After Hurricane Harvey devastated Port Arthur in 2017, Gulf Coast Health Center faced the challenge of rebuilding a critical community resource: a 45,000 SF, 150-bed skilled nursing facility. CCI Group partnered with Skiles Group to provide durable, compliant millwork solutions that supported the return of comprehensive healthcare services to Southeast Texas residents.

Challenge

The existing facility sustained extensive flood damage, requiring a full interior rebuild. The project demanded durable materials that could withstand long-term heavy use in a high-volume care environment while meeting state and federal healthcare compliance standards. The rebuild also carried strong community expectations—this center is a lifeline for thousands of patients across Southeast Texas.

Our Solution

Design & Engineering: Collaborated with Skiles Group to adapt layouts to new regulatory requirements and incorporate millwork designed for infection control and patient safety.

Materials & Finishes: High-pressure laminate and solid surfaces; impact-resistant edge treatments for longevity; ADA-compliant clearances.

Fabrication & QA: Precision CNC machining for consistency; shop-assembled units to compress on-site install schedules; thorough QA checks for durability and safety.

Installation: Coordinated phased installation to align with construction progress; dust-control and clean-handling procedures to safeguard the newly restored facility.
