When North Alabama Medical Center (NAMC) opened its new 358-bed replacement facility in 2018, the project team required durable, healthcare-grade casework that could support a wide range of clinical environments while meeting stringent compliance standards. As the successor to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, NAMC was designed to serve as a regional hub for advanced care in Northwest Alabama. CCI Group partnered with Gould Turner Group (architect) and Layton Construction (general contractor) to engineer, fabricate, and install custom casework solutions across patient rooms, nurse stations, labs, and support spaces.
Client: North Alabama Medical Center
Architect: Gould Turner Group
General Contractor: Layton Construction
Location: Florence, Alabama
Sector: Health Care
Scope: Multi-phase installation including nurse stations, patient room casework, lab cabinetry, and mobile computer stations
Compliance: AWI premium standards, ADA clearances, infection-control guidelines
As a new regional referral facility, NAMC needed casework solutions that could serve multiple specialty departments, integrate with advanced medical equipment, and withstand the demands of 24/7 patient care. The scope required large-scale fabrication, consistent quality, and on-time delivery to align with the hospital’s opening schedule.
Design & Engineering: Partnered with architects and GC to coordinate detailed shop drawings; standardized modules for repeatability across phases.
Materials & Finishes: High-pressure laminate, solid-surface, stainless toe-kicks, soft-close hardware, keyed-alike locks for secure storage.
Fabrication & QA: CNC machining for accuracy, pre-assembled modules for faster installation, edge-banded sealed seams for infection control.
Installation: Delivered in phases to maximize installation efficiency; provided dust-control and infection-control measures.
Casework systems delivered across multiple units with first-pass inspection approvals.
Improved clinical workflow through standardized nurse stations and storage modules.
Reduced install time as a result of pre-assembly and repeatable module sizes.
Enhanced durability and cleanability supporting NAMC’s recognition as a U.S. News & World Report High-Performing Hospital.
